With increasing requirements on availability and efficiency in the use of complex products combined with user-friendliness and ease of understanding, there is an increased need for documentation for installation, use, service and maintenance, and spare parts. Many companies also see aftermarket as an opportunity for increased profitability and development of their service offering in the area.

To meet these requirements, the professional and effecient development of targeted and customised documentation becomes necessary. Effective documentation should be pedagogically presented and fully searchable.

At Condesign we have worked with technical documentation since our inception in 1984 and specialised in the production of complex product information. In close cooperation with our clients’ product development departments we create efficient workflows and reduce handover times. We specialise in aftermarket content development, structure and presentation. Our flexible business model allows you to either purchase the service, with our team of experts working with the software and processes of your choice, or we can take care of the entire production and deliver a finished manual. User-friendly Instructions

Husqvarna manufacture products to homeowners, landowners, and professionals in forestry, green areas and the construction industry. Instructions and manuals must be clear and accurate for the safe use of the products.

Texts and illustrations are produced completely in accordance with Husqvarna's graphic identity. Some areas focus on textless information, using educational images in place of text. Products and practices change and market research is carried out at regular intervals to ensure that instructions are properly understood.

From Text-based to Picture-based

JELD-WEN provides many door types, with varying design standards, to virtually any application. Installations of doors are made by end users as well as professionals in the industry. A common visual identity was needed for the installation instructions as well as an improved clarity in instructions.

With the help of photography during installation, verbal briefing and starting from JELD-WEN's graphic identity, we have developed largely textless installation instructions. Both end users and professionals appreciate the clarity of the instructions and can quickly understand the steps to be taken through a descriptive illustration.

JELD-WEN now has a common profile for instructions, reduced translation costs and a clear, educational material.

Production Relief and Partnership

In recent years, Volvo Parts supplies’ of aftersales material to the Volvo group has led to demands for preserving the current production quality at a lower cost. Meanwhile, the volume of documentation has drastically increased. The organisation has faced the challenge of managing the cost base and fluctuations in workload, requiring increased efficiency during implementation and when using systems and tools.

Condesign have developed a close cooperation with the organisation where we share our experiences from other industries, for example, the use of systems support. We continuously support peak production with help from our on-site resources at Volvo Parts but also via Internet connection from our offices in Hisings Backa. Condesign helps Volvo Parts develop and streamline both processes and educational content, and systems usage and virtual service and repair method use.

Volvo Parts today has a more efficient workflow through better reuse of CAD in the production of aftermarket documentation. The effectiveness per resource has increased through increased synergies between documents. A more effective use of illustrations, together with reduced text production has raised the educational quality and reduced translation costs while providing increasing opportunities for reuse.
